Some people think that a person improves intellectual skills better when doing group activities.  To what extent do you agree? Use specific details and examples to explain your view.

It is said that the learning something in a group has more impact on your skills rather than if you begin discovering a subject by yourself. As for me, I tend to think that it depends on a specific situation.

I suggest to consider an example with learning foreign languages. It goes without saying to achieve decent speaking level we must take group lessons. Some researches says that a person can talk to himself in front of the mirror and imrove oral skills. As for me, it is the wrong opinion as we learn quicker when we interact with someone and for instance, your interlocutors have mentioned unfamiliar words, your brain will remember it right away because it happened in action. Secondly, huge companies use a brainstorming at work to come up with useful ideas. The main idea of brainstorming consists of every person's proposal and at the end of the meeting they come to a conclusion with the best option. In this case a person improves his cognitive skills fast as he/she has to give his/her ideas quickly and try to suggest the best thought. It means your brain should work fast and throw unnecessary concepts away. It takes a long time to ameliorate those skills alone.

On the other hand there are some things when you are not able to do with a group. I beleive it is fair when it comes to a writing a book or an art work. An author is writing a book based on his own imaginations. There is no use to apply collective mind on this matter. We must give an author an opportunity to express his feelings and individuality. No great book was written by group of people, only one person was able to make it perfect.

Coming to an end, as I mentioned earlier, improving intellectual skills is a personal affair. Some people can prefer group activities, other can choose to improve it on their own.
