In my first post in the English language, I just want to tell you about a short summary of a book that I like very much.
My favourite book is called “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho. I read this well-known book last summer. It’s not a very long book. In fact, I read it in less than a week.
The story is mainly set in the south of Spain, from where a young shepherd takes a trip to the Egyptian desert with the purpose of finding a treasure hidden in the ancient pyramids.
The main character is that young shepherd called Santiago who meets a huge variety of people that help him to know himself better and to deal with lots of issues that appear throughout the book.
I really like this book given that it gives you an optimistic perspective about how to go after your dreams. Moreover, it seems to me so inspiring how the way Santiago finds his destination is told.
I'm preparing the B2 Cambridge exam in a private academy and I had to write a short description of my favourite book, so I wrote that. Do you think it fits to the B2 level?
Thanks for reading.
This was my first time correcting, so I'm sorry if I was clumsy. I only found how I can select a word and then write a comment... If you wrote this text without much help, only looking up obscure words, then I think you might fit the bill :) Best to take a test exam online, if you want to be sure. In any case, good luck!
Hi Alex. Thanks for your account of the story. I understood everything. Well done. Sorry, but I'm not qualified to say whether it is B2 level. I'm sure you're academy will let you know. Now I need to post somethng in Spanish. Where in Spain do you live? All the best for your future studies. Steve
Thanks for your comments, both are so helpful :)
Great text, both in terms of grammar and content. I was going to read The Alchemist for English class (L1), but there was a change of plans. Long story short, I got the book anyway and am excited to start reading it soon.
Hey Alex! Great post! I've read The Alchemist twice, once in Romanian, and the other time in Portuguese, and I enjoyed it just as much each time! It's definitely one of those stories that everyone can understand and gain inspiration from! I would say that if you really want to add something to make it more of a B2 level, then you can maybe add something about one of the lessons Santiago learned. What happened to him, what he learned, and what it means to you. That way, you go a little deeper into the book, and show your comprehension better.))
