Hi everyone! I'm preparing for the C1 Cambridge exam, so I'm practicing writing. I would like you to assess this post, please. The exercise is to write a letter in 220-260 words;
"It has recently been announced that your area will receive funding for a range of new sports and fitness facilities for young people. Your council is inviting residents from the area to write letter suggesting how the funds should best be spent. Your letter should explain:
- why this funding is to be welcomed
- what facilities should be provided
- how the new facilities will make a difference to young people in the area"
This is what I've written. I'd appreciate your feedback and corrections. Thank you :) (IT'S PURELY FICTIONAL).

To whom it may concern,
As a resident, I am writing this letter to make some suggestions and explanations regarding the new funds that our council will be receiving by the end of this month.
Anyone who often go for a walk around the city centre, can easily notice the lack of new sports facilities. The current ones, such as the basketball court, remain in very poor conditions. They are getting older and more rusty as time goes by. Moreover, there are just a few of them; the mentioned before, a tiny skate park and a couple of pull-up bars.
On the whole, fitness and lots of different sports are becoming fairly popular among young people. Therefore, I suggest to provide new facilities and equipment to practice outdoor sports as well as indoor ones. Some of those funds should be spent to improve the baskets of the basketball court. They are not fit for purpose anymore. In addition, a great deal of that money should be used to build an entire gym, provided with different rooms and facilities inside it to cover several activities.
Bringing to the town new facilities and leisure activities will not only make young people aware of the importance of physical activity but also will allow them to create meaningful connections between them and make new groups of friends with same interests.
I hope you will consider my suggestions and spend the funds as better as possible.
Yours faithfully,
Alejandro.
