Sometimes, I get bored out of my mind and start getting frustrated and scroll mindlessly or look up "What to do when you're bored?".

I just looked up some writing prompts, but I didn't like them because I don't care when scientists find a new solution to a problem that I'm not smart enough to understand. There was a prompt I found interesting, though. It said, "Describe a place where books are forbidden and people have to tell the stories orally." 🙄 (Why did my phone suggest this emojie?)

I'm not a good storyteller, but it reminded me of a real story. When I was a kid, we had a big mysterious box. I think we weren't allowed to open it. One day my siblings opened it. It was full of old books. They smelled like a combination of dust, paper and wood. They were mostly about Marxism and politics. They belonged to my uncle, who had been executed because of his political views after the revolution.

Let's keep it mysterious because I don't want to ruin his story. I actually never heard his story enough because my parents didn't want us to get into trouble, so they kept everything to themselves, like the people of their own generation.

They also had a custom where people and neighbors would get together every night and tell stories or classical poems. We had a big yard where adults would sit together and kids would play.

Why am I writing this publicly? I don't know. Did I just say, "I'm bored out of my mind and Ich hab keine Lust auf* doing anything and found a prompt"?

So, if I write this and get some notifications, I'll pass the time mindlessly, but not on Instagram, which is so toxic, especially with its stupid explore feature**.

* I don't feel like doing something. The German phrase came to my mind first, so I kept it. Sorry if it was annoying.
