I'm taking online lessons with a teacher. I wanted to take some lessons because I felt like my English was getting rusty. It has been a great choice. I feel much more confident when I speak English right now. My teacher is really nice and he's very talkative and open to help me with my pronunciation and vocabulary issues.

English was my first foreign language and I spent almost all of my school years studying this language. After that I felt much more interested by another languages rather than English and I felt English was the one I could speak best so studying and practicing English was never my priority. But I think my Portuguese is better now than my English and I feel I have to do something to not lose it.

But finding a (good) teacher (for you) is hard. There are plenty of good teachers out there but I wanted one who was less academic so I could focus on conversation but at the same time he or she could make comments, suggestions and corrections about my English and not just talk to me.

It's been refreshing to study English frequently again. Although I'm aware that I should work more on the language. My English is kind of flat, simple, practical. That's ok but I would like to speak more eloquently by using more idioms, expressions and expanding my vocabulary. I don't know if those lessons will help me to improve that. I think I should read more books in English and expose myself to English through more professionalized content. I also can't neglect the small details. Sometimes I make concordance errors or use prepositions incorrectly. I need to work on that.

Here I would use a Spanish idiom: "No empezar la casa por el tejado" that I don't know if it could work If I would translate it directely into English or if I should use an English idiom with a similar meaning. This one means something like not starting something by the end, like not starting building the house from the roof. You need to start building from the foundation of the house. The Internet gave me this one sentence: "I couldn't be putting the cart before the horse". This is the same idea so I think it works. This is what I have to learn to feel my English strong enough to talk properly and being myself.

I guess I never really mastered my English to the proper level. I'm determined to get it this time.
