This post is going to be the first of a series of posts about my music reviews whose main goal is to share what I listen to, maybe someone can discover songs or artists they might enjoy. If someone wants to do the same I will be happy to read and listen to new music, who knows if I can discover music that I like. Before I continue I want to clarify that I'm not a musician nor do I have great knowledge of music, I just want to express my thoughts by describing songs.
Los Mesoneros | Pangea
- Genres: Rock.
- Duration: 25 minutes.
- Release: 10/2019.
Los Mesoneros are a Venezuelan rock band founded in 2006. I started following them in 2019 and since then I haven't stopped listening to them, I really like their music.

This song describes the relationship between two people after their breakup. In this case they maintain communication, but the man doesn't want to know anything about the new boyfriend. He says in a way "after a lot of mistakes curiosity can hurt you". Curiosity can lead you to impressive knowledge, but sometimes it can be bad for you, and in this situation it's better to let time pass until they can speak normally. What do you think, is it good to maintain communication with your ex?
On the other hand, this track was created based on a relationship full of jealousy and was inspired by the song The Less I Know The Better by Tame Impala which I love.
I like this song, but it's not one of my favorites on the album.

The second one is one of my favorites because I love its melody and the rhythm. The lyrics tell the story of a breakup in which one of the couple doesn't want to continue with the other. However, the one who doesn't want to break up gives the other a chance to reflect because if that happens, they will never be a couple again. In addition, the one who wants to keep the ship afloat tells the other "you are looking for something you already have". I think sometimes we don't appreciate what we have until we lose it and realize its true value.
This song is inspired by a part of Smile Like You Mean It by The Killers that says: and someone will drive her around, down the same streets that I did. Thanks to that phrase Los Mesoneros were able to create a beautiful song.
After I wrote the last paragraph I realized that this album is about sad stories hahaha, but my friends and I always do karaoke with these songs for fun. For the next review I will try to bring a more cheerful album.
Dudo que lo encuentres
Spotify YouTube
This is really one of the saddest songs on the album because the lyrics tell us that the protagonist of the song doesn't want to love again, he doesn't want to try to take any more risks because of all the heartbreaks he has experienced. The part that says, "There's nothing left on my pulse, and I doubt you'll find it," really transmits a lot of feelings. I've never lived through anything like that, but I guess it must be hard to get over a situation like that. I also like this song, but it's not in my top 3.

The concept of this song is long-distance relationships, which I think are very difficult to carry out. I think most of these types of romances end badly, distance for a long time can be bad for any relationship. Additionally, the track is about the external forces that can either help you stay with your lover and create happiness or separate you and create a lot of pain. The group's artists also say that this song is about friends and family who have had to emigrate and cannot be in contact with each other except by electronic devices.
I don't usually listen to this song, but I like it.
Dime como tú quieras

The fifth track of the album is not one of the ones I usually listen to, I don't know if it's because I don't connect with the lyrics and melodies either. However, when I listened to it I liked it, but it's not a big deal. In this story the main character wants to avoid and forget his problems by relating with other people who have the same problems, he just wants to have fun. In addition, this song was inspired by Cornerstone by Arctic Monkeys.
Lo peor de mí
Spotify YouTube
Lo peor de mi is the least successful in terms of reproductions, but Los mesoneros say that this song is one of the most emotional when they play it in a concert because all the people sing it with a lot of feeling. I actually like this song, but I don't usually listen to it.
This track is inspired by Worst in me by Julia Michaels, and also tries to describe how some people can bring out the worst in us. Most people have experienced relationships or friendships that have made them do bad things and created bad memories. I think this is the reason why the song can connect with many people who understand the lyrics and enjoy this genre of music.
Exprópiese
Spotify YouTube
Exprópiese and the following song are definitely my favorite songs on this album. I love the melodies and the rhythm of this track. Also, the song has an ambiguity in its lyrics that each person can interpret in different ways, but I think the main focus is about immature and toxic relationships in which the couple needs to mature and each one be more independent. Manipulation and lack of self-esteem are themes that are mentioned in this song, these themes are very recurrent in early ages because teenagers don't have the experience and knowledge to manage their relationships.

The last song, one of my favorites and definitely in my top 3. The main theme of this song refers to how the protagonist finally accepts his mistakes, his bad habits, and decides to start a new stage of his life by accepting himself. This song gives a message of hope for anyone who has experienced any of the bad situations mentioned in the album, it's a good way to end the disc.
Initially the beat of this song was inspired by Idioteque by Radiohead, but eventually the song got another beat and style.
Top 3
- Últimas palabras.
- Exprópiese.
- Te lo advertí.
I hope someone liked some of these songs. Although this album is about sad topics, I wanted to share one of the best Latin American rock bands and help someone discover Spanish music.
