4年前くらいにスーパーに働いていました。僕の最初の仕事でした。あそこで働いた時、スペイン語を学びました。たくさん、スペイン語を話したの人がたくさんいましたので、練習することができました。その時、僕のスペイン語が下手でしたから、スペイン語を話したお客さんが来た時、早く翻訳を調べた。でも、その仕事はたくさんお金を稼いでいました。だから感謝します😄。

翻訳 is a pretty formal and technical term that has a bit of special use. We don't use for single words or daily phrases, it's more of translation of official content or something with certain amount of text, many times in professional context. So, if you use it for a simple translation of a word or phrases in a casual setting, it would sound a bit unnatural. Also, when we say 翻訳, it's mostly about written text and it's more than simple translation but include analysis of culture and expressions. So, it might not work in every setting like "translate/translation" works in English.
We usually say just, 訳/ 訳す instead of 翻訳/翻訳する in casual setting.
訳を調べる =( 意味を調べる) look for translation
訳す= translate, can be anything (text or speech) and more casual
