Yourteacher.ai is a website for language learning designed to simulate a online lesson with a human tutor, like those of iTalki or LanguaTalk for instance. It offers multiple languages and for each language you can choose between a few tutors. Each tutor has a profile with age, profession, hobbies and wich city they live in, so you can select a tutor that aligns with the topic you want to talk about or the type of voice you want to hear.
The website was developed by the youtuber Xiaoma and some partners and its now also being promoted by Olly Richards (youtuber, graded readers writer). They also appears as tutors, with their pictures and voices.
I think that this could be a great tool for language learning in the near future, but there is still a way to go before that happens. Many people are finding a lot of bugs during the conversations, there is still a big gap between the user speaking and the AI response and the price is still not very attractive, specially for people in countries with weak currencies compared to the Dollar. They should also make some kind of free trial, even if it's for only one day.
I haven't testet the website yet, but I think that right now ChatGPT (wich yourteacher.ai was build upon) with a plug-in that enables voice recognition and text-to-speech (for PC, the app already has those features) or Bing Chat (that also already has those features ) provide basically the same experience, you just need more prompts to instruct how they should interact with you.
I hope to see more companies investing in this kind of service (Elsa Speak is doing something similar with their app, but it's only for learning English), it will definitely help a lot of people to learn and practice languages.
