These are my goals for 2024 regarding language learning:
- Reach C1 in English
- Reach B2 in French
Since I'll be working on two languages at the same time and I don't want some kind of burnout, I'll be splitting my weeks into 4 days of English and 3 days of French. I'm prioritizing English because I'm quite desperate to reach an advanced level after feeling a bit stuck in intermediate for many years.
For tracking my immersion stats I'll be using Google Sheets and Language Roadmap
I don't have a specific total number of hours or pages to reach yet, but these are some things that I'll be working on:
For English:
I want those hours and pages to pile up and get my brain used to the language
- Reading as much as I can (it is non-negotiable to read during those 4 days of the week)
- Listening to pure audio (podcasts, audiodramas, audiobooks) over TV shows/films format [without support -transcriptions, subtitles]
*Take into account that this is all active immersion and I'll do look ups
For French:
Master the Slice-of-Life domain
- Prioritize reading (first thing to do)
- Watch Slice-of-Life/Vlog content on YouTube (without subtitles)
- Listen to every InnerFrench Podcast episode
- Immerse in the french culture (Easy French, Piece of French, HugoDecrypte)
- Make at least 10 cards/day
