Nowadays, parents have been playing more and more important roles in children's lives and education, which also is being encouraged by society. I admit that parents can influence children dramatically, modeling and guiding them in every aspect, such as how to treat elders. However, I strongly believe that school, where children spend most time, is responsible for teaching children how to be good members of society.
Parents are the people children get along with every moment when they are infants, who teach them how to walk, how to chew, and how to be alive in the world. In the process, parents also have many chances to instill moral concepts in children. Therefore, grasping these chances timely and properly would help children build a wholesome system of observing and treating the world and people around them. It is not only beneficial for children themselves but also for the whole of society. Besides, children always trust parents, making it easier for parents to affect their own kids.
However, parents tend to be very busy because they intend to earn more money and provide a better life for their kids. Education is highly regarded by many parents, they think sending children to a premium school means a foundation for a happy future life. Therefore, schools are expected to teach students not only academic knowledge but also social skills, good manners, and so on. In addition, when children get older, especially in puberty, they desire independence. During this period, they avoid their parents intentionally and hang out with friends more frequently. In this case, the school is more important to play the role of supervisors, intervening and correcting them if necessary.
As a conclusion, parents and school are both crucial and responsible in terms of teaching children to be good social members. But as long as children get independent, they will drift away from their parents. So I think in the long term, the school would be more influential in this career.
This is really well argued and interesting to read.
