Last night, a new black and white laser printer arrived at my home. I unpacked it, removed the old one, and placed the new one next to the TV in the living room. I removed some tape that held moving parts on its body. I did this before I went to work, following the policy: if it seems troublesome, do it now.

My wife took a glance at it and said, "Nothing's changed between the old and new versions. Wait, the display became smaller. It doesn’t have ten keys."

I felt like I had read an online article that said it had a larger display that was a touch panel. The article might have been about the upper-grade one in the same series. I am not complaining about these changes because the old specifications were too much. And it has improvements, smaller, quick warm-up, and high-speed printing.

After dinner, I connected the power cable to the outlet to start setting up Wi-Fi. I looked for the WPS setting in its menu, but I couldn't find it. The feature has been obsoleted! It took me about 10 minutes to finish the Wi-Fi setting manually. I finished checking printing and scanning in the end. One task is still left. I should throw away the old one.

新しいプリンタ

新しいモノクロレーザープリンタが昨夜ウチに届いた。私は箱を開封し、古いプリンタをどけて、新しいものをリビングルームのテレビの横に設置した。部品が動かないように貼られていたテープをはがした。面倒なことこそ、すぐにやるというモットーにしたがい、それらを会社に行く前に済ませた。

妻は新しいプリンタを一目見て、「古いのとほとんど変わらない。待って、液晶画面が小さくなっているし、テンキーが無くなっている。」と言った。

大きめな画面、しかもタッチパネル機能付だという記事をオンラインで読んだような気がする。おそらく同じシーリズの上位機種のことだったのだろう。私はこれらの変更について文句はない。そうした機能はやりすぎだったと思うからだ。それに進化している点はいくつかある。全体的にコンパクトになり、印刷準備が早くなり、印刷もより速くなったのだ。

夕食の後、Wi-Fiの設定をするために電源を繋いだ。WPS設定がメニューにないか探したが見つからなかった。その機能はなくなったらしい。手動で設定をするのに10分くらいかかった。そして、ようやく印刷とスキャンの確認が終わった。まだ、古いのを処分するという一仕事が残っている。
