I found a better podcast platform than Apple Podcasts called Overcast. Despite containing ads in the bottom, it is better because it provides an important feature: that I can search an episode using keywords under a podcast. I don’t know why Apple Podcasts and Google Podcasts don’t provide this simple feature.
I began listening to podcasts eight or more years ago. Listening podcasts has changed me a lot mentally. I felt supported when I came across a podcast talking about what I believed. Sometimes I felt lonely in reality, or in my surroundings. My classmates or colleagues had little similarities with me. They liked playing video game, browsing short videos and talking about news while I liked reading books and listening to podcasts and had no interest in news. I've spent more time with podcasts hosts than with my own friends.
And more of that, I realized I can choose something different than what my friends chose. I had quit my jobs and traveled to a city called Dali, where I met with people I had never thought I could meet and learned about many different ways of life.
Now I listen to more English podcasts and I believe they may help me learn more about the world.
I roamed through the nearby rice fields from the late afternoon to the dusk. This area was as vast as the rice fields in Ubud, but the water here was yellow and littered with rubbish. There were bottles and sacks of used chemicals compounds littered on the road. People had used them to nourish the soil or to eliminate harmful insects.
I'll check out Overcast. I use my eyes a lot at work, so podcasts are probably better than Netflix.
Hi, @Akiko Do you listen to podcasts regularly ? What are your favourite podcasts?
I am searching for good podcasts. These are what I am listening to:
@HaroldBlog I listen to podcasts sometimes, but they are for beginners, not for your level and not that interesting. Your recommends might be difficult for me, but thank you! I'll check them out.
@Akiko I think podcasts are very helpful for improving not only my English listening but also learning a lot interesting things. Keep listening to different podcasts which I am interested in, my verbal comprehension improved a lot. Hope you enjoy your podcasts as well.
