Butterworth town trip

I planned to take the IELTS test when I came back to China in December. And I need to combine practicing and study together to improve my English skills. My main method of study is to memorize vocabulary using words lists from recommended textbooks and my own list as well. And my practices are to read novels, listen to podcasts and write English diaries.

I met with Alicia at the ferry terminal in Georgetown. The ferry ticket was free recently. There was a ferry to Butterworth, a town on the mainland part of Penang, every thirty minutes. It took around twenty minutes to the Butterworth terminal. We struggled to walk out to street. We wanted to have a walk in the street art area. But it was suddenly raining dogs and cats. We waited at a bus shelter for half an hour but the heavy rain had no sign of stop. I had one small umbrella but my friend didn’t have. We shared the small umbrella and rushed to the next bus shelter. The wind was so strong and it blew one bone of my umbrella broken. We waited at the second shelter. An Indian lady invited us to her car and took us to a nearby restaurant. When we got off the car, the driver asked us for 2 Ringgits as the car fare. I was surprised for I had taken it as a free help but it was understandable.

We ate authentic and delicious Cantonese beef noodles in a cafeteria. The cafeteria was held by a family. Our coffees were served by the kind grandma and our noodles by her son.

After lunch, it was raining less. We gave up our city walk plan and took a taxi back to the ferry port.
