Those days I’ve been practicing an advice that I read about how to make your habits easier to perform. The idea is taking away friction when it comes to performing the habit you want to build. For instance, prime the environment, that means preparing the room before the activity takes place. If you want to eat healthy, place the skillet on the oven before you go to bed, so the next morning when you see the skillet you’ll be more encouraged to prepare a good meal, you’ll find less friction to perform the good habit to do it. I guess that is possible in an upside way. I mean creating the friction necessary to avoid a bad habit. For instance, I’ve come to realize that sometimes I check my phone for social media and It's taken me a bunch of time. So, I’ve decided to leave my phone in another room different from the place I usually work. That simple strategy has helped me to avoid checking my phone without a real necessity, and I only take my phone for answering a call. Therefore my productivity has improved and It hasn’t been necessary to make up lost time.
Taking the time to create an optimum environment for yourself is really important! I'm glad you are already seeing rewards from such a small change in your habits!
that's a good tip. I acknowledge, though, that in high pressure situations you're expected to work regardless of how noisy or bad or unsuitable the environment is.
As for the title, I think you should reword it. You probably want to reduce friction, right? So something like "How to form good habits by reducing friction" or "friction fuels bad habits" or "reducing friction for better habits"
I've been reading about this strategy lately as well! Great post!
The sentence "I guess that is possible in an upside way" I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to say, so I'm not sure what it suggest there.
Thank guys for all your comments. @Allison in my sentence I guess that is possible in an upside way" I meant that I can invert the principle and prime the environment to make bad habits difficult. Thanks for helping me :)
