There is a lot of news about how young people struggle with the competitive and long-hours working environment, and try to fight back to it. Such a fact misleads impressionable people to generate their opinions that the rules that societies set for young people to follow are too strict. However, this conclusion suffers from both logical and factual fallacies, and it should be examined meticulously. As far as social stability, individual development, and factual condition are concerned, I strongly hold that young people are not expected to obey too strict rules.
First and foremost, setting more reasonable rules and encouraging young people to follow them is an effective way to maintain and improve the stability of societies, such as traffic rules contributing to accident prevention. That means in the long term, a well-running society will reduce tons of mutual social problems that young people are supposed to share their responsibilities for. As one member of the whole family of society, young people are expected and should take their responsibilities, and dedicate themselves to social stability and security. On the other hand, if people disobey rules frequently, our societies will turn into chaos and can not run sustainably.
Furthermore, rules help young people to develop well since it is an undeniable fact that most young people are not self-disciplined, especially when facing such many lures of the Internet nowadays. Take the case of my cousin who is a typical Chinese high school student like thousands of others. Last year, when the high school entrance exam coming up, he was addicted to the mobile games on his cellphone. Despite his parents and teachers having a lot of measures to prevent him to play, he still could find a way to approach the games. The adolescent Internet restrictions conducted by the government solved the problem sufficiently at its root. Finally, my cousin concentrated his attention on studying again and got into a decent high school. Actually, Internet addiction is ubiquitous among the young generation. Had it not been for rules, they could not have had a bright future as they now.
Nevertheless, a voice arises that rules for dealing with new conditions are established restlessly, so young people are expected to follow more and more rules. Ironically, the fact is with the rapid development of every aspect of society. Countries, firms, and individuals are trying their best to adapt to the changes. It also means some unreasonable and obsolete rules are optimized and eliminated like remote working is allowed during the epidemic. Therefore, the rules that young people are expected to follow to are updated and have nothing to do with being too strict.
As one of my favorite quotes from James Madison goes, as long as the reason of man continues fallible, different opinions will be formed. Some people may oppose me, however, I believe they will compromise after being exposed to my essay.
