歲 vs 歳

Today, I realized that the character for the age counter in Chinese & Japanese are different by 2 strokes. 歲 for Chinese and 歳 for Japanese. I had been thinking that they were the same for the past few weeks. *flipdesk* I can barely even see the difference in Notability since I can't seem to adjust the font size of individual characters or table cells.

To be honest, I would have thought that the characters would be flipped. 歲 just looks more like it was simplified from 歳. At least this type of difference isn't a big deal because the characters don't mean anything in the other language.
