I wrote on Youtube about highlighter pens . I think it was an attached comment under one of Robin Macpherson's videos, I don't recall.
I thought that the person who invented them ought to have got the Nobel prize !
Somebody today mentioned that they can have the opposite effect and I partially agree if overdone they could be confusing . But I used them when I was learning Spanish , I highlighted the endings of the verbs with just three colours and it helped me enormously . It might be a useful tip to somebody just starting up . Buena suerte !

Soooo true. I have a Turkish grammar book which highlights all the words using different colors for different grammatical structures. I use highlighters heavily for accounting (cash is green, liabilities blue). Great post!!
I have a Comrade in highlighters !
I'm learning Italian and might try the same approach with verb endings. Thanks for the tip!
Great Nancy. I'm 5x A4 books full of stuff. I write down everything then I go through it. Youtube is great for this, Robin gives really concrete ideas. I find writing is marginally better for me than listening. I've yet to find a podcast that interests me enough. But if you like art, you could see an interview with Pietro Annigoni from the 1980's. I printed the transcript and now I'm trying to decipher it !
Thanks again Brian for more good advice! I love art so will definitely look for that interview. I have just started using one of Robin's ideas and found a couple of Italian songs that I downloaded lyrics to and use them to study. I have found it to be addition to my study plan so am starting to look for other songs, videos and interviews to study.
That's a brilliant idea Nancy. I'm teaching a friend a little spanish and guitar. I'll think of something along those lines for him. Apart from that I just wrote this to him. " Learning a language is like having a tiger by the tail, if you want to stop, how do you let go and survive long enough to say ..at least I tried ! "
