I've just written a french post, I presume this one is going to be harder. It's funny how your brain needs a few seconds to rewire in order to change languages when you are not bilingual. I wish I was born to a french father, an english father and in a basque community where I could also learn spanish at the same time, but life had certainly other plans and has given me the _joy_ of engaging in three language learning adventures. For the moment just three, but you never know if another language will be knocking on your door. I've said _joy_ with a little bit of irony yes, but I also consider it a pleasure a lot of the time, the joy of improving, of getting to communicate with others, of discovering amazing cultural features only reserved to those who speak that language.
This new challenge of teaching chemistry for a few weeks in english is helping not only realize how much my english had rusted (just as iron in a moist environment , hahhah, nerd!) buy also how much I love this language. I've recovered the motivation to improve my production of english both speaking and writing. All the reading and listening I do almost everyday with scientific papers, tv series, books or podcast in english is great, but it is not helping me develop my fluenty.
We'll see how this journey continues!
great work just keep watching more content you like in english and you will speak like a native soon keep up the great work kid
I totally get what you mean. Using a foreign language after some time is daunting but also amazing. When you "reconnect" with a language, sure you feel overwhelmed at first by how much you've forgotten, but then you unlock that part of your heart where your love for that language resides and it gives you such a boost of energy/adrenaline!
I can definitely relate to this! My brain has a similar "switching" feeling too between languages. But that "switching" will gradually become less and less prominent as we improve. And while language learning can be a struggle, like you said, there can also be a lot of joy! :) Your English is very good! Just keep at it and you'll get there :D
