Yesterday, I finished the book : Where the crawdads sing and I really enjoyed my reading.
It was a little bit long at the beginning , I think during the 150 first pages but when the plot began I really was into it.
Kya, when she was a little girl, has been abandoned by all the members of her family.
At only 10, she had to cope on her own to survive in the swamps. She sold mussels to earn cents, money she used to buy food and fuel for her bark.
She met a young boy, Tate, who helped her to learn to read and to count.
During her twenties, an other boy she has knew, is found dead, and because she was the "swamp girl", an outsider, she is accused of this crime.
All along the book, the nature, the animals, the swamps where she has been living is described with lots of details and it changes of all the books I'm used to read. I recommend this book to everyone and I'm sure that you will enjoy it as mush as I did.
