Dear Janice, what a lovely entry! It seems that you have a big family. There are tiny mistakes (usually typos) but your Korean is so good! Keep up the good work. :D
Good evening Janice! Welcome on Journaly :). I can't correct your entries as I'm no Korean native, but I have some links that could be interesting for learning Korean. Would this be helpful?
@Bouchra Yes please! I will add them to my resources.
I will try to group them in one message (tomorrow) but I'll begin with two that you can check if you don't know them already.
Sejong Hakdang website: https://nuri.iksi.or.kr/front/main/main.do here you can find books with their audios. Some are e-books that can only be opened in the browser while others can be downloaded. You can also find a forum where you can practice writing from the books or just record yourself speaking about anything that you want. You'll get a written feedback from a teacher. This might be more useful in later stages as you build more complex sentences. (Participation part of the website.)
https://www.iksi.or.kr/lms/main/main.do# Here you can find the online courses in video format, you should register and go to Self-learning Korean courses. (Cyber korean course 1 for example.)
For all these, there are books where you can find the curriculum, so you could use several courses/ books to have more examples/ audios for the same grammar/ vocab point.
PS: to avoid repeating mentioning resources you already know, could you please tell me what you're currently using?
Have a nice day!
@Bouchra Thank you for the links!
I am a very new beginner - I have been learning since last November. I am currently using Talk To Me in Korean, and I have reached the middle of Level 2. I also have their book on Daily Conversations for Beginners. I watch their YouTube videos and use their lessons on Memrise. I watch YouTube videos on specific topics if I need to research a topic or grammar rule, usually from Go Billy or Ms. Vicky. (In the past few weeks I have been going back and reviewing all my previous lessons, so I haven't learned anything brand new recently.)
I keep a journal and have started writing on Journaly. I take notes in church using as much Korean as I can, to practice my vocabulary and handwriting. I practice reading from Korean children's books and find short paragraphs on Instagram to read and listen to (for example, https://www.instagram.com/p/CbM8TobIfEM/). I watch K-pop videos and K-drama with my teenage daughter :)
I appreciate your help!
Thank you for explaining in detail!:) 1) I just saw the curriculum for the two first books of TTMIK and I think it more or less looks similar to the one for the two first sejong books . You could use the Listening and Reading sections to have more exemples. Professor Yoon explains all them in English in his channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/ProfYoonsKoreanLanguageClass
It's also possible to use the audio files of the Conversation books as each book has several dialogues. Had it been possible to comment with pictures(for free), would I have sent you screenshots. It's clearer that way :c. The books can be found here, page 2, 세종한국어 회화 . They also have a workbook version that can be printed / downloaded. https://nuri.iksi.or.kr/front/cms/contents/layout2/textbooks/contentsList.do
(He has other things on his channel, like videos about Integrated Korean, whose audios can be found online. He also has a playlist called Power-Up Vocabulary : https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6D-YTosvGYqs9nBnE7pAR2gFK6Szt4SR)
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQJhoF0nZwaVPSPNPIQhLmg Do you know this channel? This teacher explains Korean in Korean with a lot of gestures, even the basics :).
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7t6mMJtdVEWsVEFF5XDFNQ/playlists I especially like this channel because the teacher explains Korean pronunciation rules (and exceptions). She also covers all the basic grammar points that you'll find elsewhere so you can use her videos to get additional examples. She speaks Korean all the time, but English subtitles are available and clear. I like the way she structures her lessons.
There is an application on Sejong's website that could help you to practice the pronunciation rules. It can be found here: https://nuri.iksi.or.kr/front/cms/contents/practice/list.do It's called Learning Korean Pronunciation. There're things like 책이 that get pronounced [채기] or the ㅂ that gets pronunced like a ㅁ. It's not exactly a lesson but it can be useful to practice these once you learn more about them. I just found out that you can access it directly through this link: https://nuri.iksi.or.kr/practice/learningKoreanPronunciation/kor/index.html?
The last link I'll add for today is https://youglish.com/korean. It's supposed to be used to check the pronunciation of some words in the real world but it can also be used to just find videos that have a certain word in the subtitles. Like if you search 케이크, you'll find 199 in which they say that word and it'll take you to that part of the video. Since not all youtube videos are subtitled many of the ones shown are from events like Ted-x.
I might have some other links that I'll try to add tomorrow. Have a nice day!:)
I just read that you said that you watch K-pop videos and K-drama with your daughter. In Iksi they also have some lessons based on K-pop and K-dramas :). And if you use Viki to watch Kdramas I think that you can turn both English and Korean subtitles. (Or at least have the Korean ones. Personally I don't have the Korean ones available on Netflix when the Drama wasn't produced by them.)
@Bouchra - I appreciate the time you took to tell me about these resources, especially free ones. I look forward to trying them out!
My pleasure :). Tell me what you think of a resource if you try it! Since I've paused my learning of Korean I can't judge the value of some resources.
https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/spongemind-podcast/id1054603657 Do you know Spongemind? It's a podcast with to learn Korean and English. It has an American host who can speak Korean and a Korean host who can also speak English. The transcripts of the podcasts can be requested for free on this website: http://spongemind.org/

I don't know if they're suitable for your level but you might try some episodes that have themes related to what you've already studied and see how much you can understand :).
I still have one funny resource. It's a Korean TV course from 1999. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKOFawUskk6b--T-jZZBEfT645pU2_Vgt
Have a nice day!
@Bouchra Thank you again! I am not yet good enough to listen to podcasts but I look forward to trying those in the future and telling you how it goes. I watched some of the Arirang videos from 1999 and I like them. I tried speaking along with the teachers.
You're welcome! It's true that if you began not long ago it might be better to try easier/ shorter audios :). I'm glad you like them! I'd like to add 세종학당 결혼이민자 한국어 1 to the books whose audios you could use. It's theorically for people who married Koreans, so they try to teach what's most useful to daily life. (the scripts can be found starting from page 140.) You can check the book/ curriculum here: https://nuri.iksi.or.kr/e-book/ecatalog5.jsp?Dir=385&catimage=&callmode=admin
Good morning! I hope that you're doing well. There's one link I'd like to share with you. It's about a weekly Korean speaking session you can register for. It's led by volunteers from the university of Alberta so it's completly free of charge. https://www.facebook.com/svcclanguages/posts/pfbid08JaimKcBoGYsb76PtqNC3sXgZ6GpEEPNrxxSUKjwGM8aUD2W1vE6fSGrJwvSeNvnl Have a nice day!:)
