Do you know how many people got infected with Covid-19 yesterday? It was over 650 thousand. It is new record since Covid-19 has hit the all over the country. It is also too bad to me who has prepared an interview with local people for my study. In fact, yesterday I was supposed to have the interview with an expert in person. Actually his daughter who lives with him had been infected covid-19 and he phoned to cancel the interview. Of course I suggested to use Zoom or something for the interview but he said it was difficult to him. Sometimes Zoom make me hard to communicate with some elderly people who tend to barely control their computer. There is noway but accept it.
Unfortunately, the confirmed number of people got infected have broken the record every single day. How I control my interview schedule with some elderly people who don't prefer having interview through internet.
I’m sorry the situation has been bad. I think elderly people can use technology if they had a little help. It’s unfortunate that a lot of them don’t try because it seems really hard. But I know they can. In these two years a lot of elderly people I know have learned to use zoom and with practice they have become pros. Maybe helping them with words of encouragement and helping through the phone step by step. Sometimes they don’t need a computer but only a smart phone. If they download zoom they don’t even need an account to join yours. If you send them a link through Kakao or if you send the login numbers they can do it. I also think that talking together before the interview or days before can help their nerves. Let the, know you believe in them and you can help :) 화이팅
