Annabel woke up at 7 am, right after the clock went off.
She was still drowsy after pulling an all-nighter at Sheyla’s party.
The place was really off the chain, so it was well worth staying some more.
The music was literally blared out, too much for her taste: at some point, she had gone out to catch a breath of fresh air.
Yet, she had met some interesting people, mostly were Sheyla’s friends or acquaintances.
None of them sticked to her memory in a particular way, they mostly talked about work and the usual topics.
A lanky, brown-haired guy had even tried to hit on her but she had easily fended him off.
She was there to have fun and that was it, no dates thank you.
The break-up was still fresh in her memory, though one year had passed.
“Maybe later, who knows” she thought in front of the mirror “Now it’s just not for me.”
She was still getting over it but she hated the “rebound” method.
Soon enough, she could’ve come round the idea it was over, time heals everything.
At least that’s what she hoped.
Meanwhile, she had taken up again some old hobbies.
Well, apart from the dance classes, courtesy of said Sheyla and her fitness fad.
At first she had felt totally stupid, trying to keep in time and learn the moves.
Slowly but surely, however, she quite got the hang of it.
She started enjoying the learning and the music, for it always put a smile on her face.
“Oh wow! Yesterday I forgot to tell Jenny the class starts earlier this evening!
I’d better text her now…ugh, I’ve really got a head like a sieve!”
She put on her coat hastily (she was late as usual), closed the door and dashed for the elevator.
Great job! Annabel's thoughts read very naturally.
