The first book I read in 2022 was "The Hidden Palace" by Helene Wecher. It's a sequel, and I had already read the first one, "The Golem and the Jinny", that I read in Portuguese. I decided to try reading the second book in English because there was no Portuguese translation yet, and it turned out to be a great experience, although a little bit hard.

Both books are very well-written, and you can feel there is deep historical research behind. The whole story is a huge picture of the American culture amalgam. The author crosses the Jewish and Syrian cultures in American soil at the beginning of the 20th century. Therefore, the result is pretty rich. I highly recommend both books, mainly the first one.
