I was scrolling on my instagram feed some days ago and I saw a posting saying that "It doesn't matter what books do you read, since you read." what made me think if it's true.
I started read early, I don't remember the exactly age, but I always have been in this environment. My mom told me stories from the Bible when I was little (my favorite was Samson), then I started reading on my on with the Fairy tales (what influence me to have a birthday party later on dressed like Cinderella 🙈☺️) and while in my tennager phase came the fanfics. Now, I read a lot of romance books, some webtoons and I'm starting on non-fictions.
Why I'm telling you this? Because one of the first things I did when this question came into my mind was try to remember the books I read. So, what's the answer?
I believe it doesn't matter what you read if we are talking about genres, but if we are talking about the content, then I think not every book is good for you. Like at 1 Corinthians 6:12 says "I have the right to do anything, but not everything is beneficial". We all have our morals and should use them while reading, because it isn't just a book. We are devouring the author's ideas/thoughts and being influenced by them.
What you guys think about it?
Good post!
I also think that we have to be careful, but also open-minded when we read books. We want to be critical but also be open to the idea that maybe it's we who are wrong.
Cool that you had grown up with books. I started to read pretty late in my life (at ~20 years old) and often felt I'm playing catch up :D
Yeah, I also think that not all books are equal. Some books can simply entertain us, others can give us useful information, also others can have a great impact on how we view certain topics. The influence can be either bad or good, depending on the effect it has on your mindset. So, be careful, but also enjoy reading, as it can be a very nice habit. :) Great topic, thanks for writing about it. :)
@Adrian_Pierro Yes, of course, read other points of views is fundamental. And I think we readers will never be satisfied, one life isn't enough for us 😂.
@CherryBlossom thank you for reading ☺️
