We learn languages. We communicate each other. Then, sometimes, we get unexpected reactions.
We have learned the words well, and there are no grammar mistakes in what we said.
Why would that thing happen?
It is because saying something is not just communicate the meaning, but also requires certain type of reactions.
Let's say I told you about difficulty I had, then you would say something helpful or empathizing.
I think it's common in every culture. However, what reaction certain words or phrases (meaning) requires can vary depending on culture.
For example, the phrase "What's up?" means "Tell the speaker what's happening recently."
But we are not suppose to tell detailed information in our life.
The phrase requires us to tell just one or two information. If we don't know what is required by it, we might get in trouble.
