Some people don't watch anime or read manga.
Some people hate them just because they are anime or manga.
They might be thinking they are immoral and devious or just for children.
It's certainly true that some of them are for children and some of them are kind of vulgar.
But there are so many incredibly important works.
A famous psychologist who studied vection (illusions of self-motion) mentioned some anime pieces, and then told me "If you really want to research psychology to the degree I'm doing, you've got to watch all of these. It's not just for fun. It's mandatory." You might not be familiar with the term vection, but I guess you know AR or VR. It's strongly connected to these subjects.
It's not just him, but many researchers say that they get inspiration from anime.
Prof. Inami says "I would not have been able to catch up with or understand the conversation in the lab without reading "GHOST IN THE SHELL" and immersing themselves in the world."

(The link above is the interview I quoted. It is written in Japanese, so I hope it can help Japanese leaners.)
By the way, did you know that Shakespeare's works were not liked by many puritans when he was alive. Then, drama was thought to be vulgar, unsophisticated, and even immoral even though it was written by Shakespeare.
Well, you know what I mean. Boot up Netflix, Amazon prime, or whatever! And time to watch anime.

Hi Sean, enjoyed your post! Your English is at quite a good level and I've mostly just made suggestions for a more native speaker-like phrasing in a few places.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed my post. Your suggestions are so helpful. It is really fun to know phrases native speakers would use.
