How the food you eat affects your brain ?

Today, I watched a Ted video titled : " How the food you eat affects your brain ? "

To work, our body and our brain need fats, like lipides and others nutrients like proteins, amino acids or glucose. They are all very important because each one as a role and so an impact on us.

Rich food, like nuts and seeds which contains omega 3 and 6, is essential because it allows the creation and the maintenance of cell membranes. It's a good fat for our body.

Other foods can influence our behave and our feelings, are the one with lots of proteins. They allow to stimulate brain cells like dopamine and serotonin, that make us feel more calm and make us in a good mood.

But some of them like pasta, or white bread have a rapid glucose release. So just after we eat we feel energize but a little bit of time after, the glucose rate shoot down and we feel immediately more tired and less energize and our attention go down with it. So it's important to also consume vegetables, which have slower glucose release and help us to stay performant for a longer period.

Moreover, iron, zinc and sodium are also really important, they are fondamental to brain health and early cognitive development.

Even if our brain represents just 2% of out body weigh, it consumes around 20% percent of our energy which come from glucose of the food. So, if we have a nutrient deficiency it can affects all of our body.

In conclusion, everything that we eat can have an impact on our body and our brain so it's important to consume divers type of food and have a balance diet.
