Tourism is an essential part of our lives nowadays either we are the travelers or the hosts. The two texts provided present different views about tourism and its impacts.

The first text talks about how it can negatively affect the destination. We often see tourism as an income source, but this money mostly supports big companies, putting the small businesses at risk of disappearing. Moreover, as the text also points out, having a larger amount of people at one place impacts the environment deeply. The more people the bigger the impact and the more resources are needed.

However, the second test explains a popular solution to these problems, eco-tourism. The aim of this way of traveling is both to minimize the impacts on the destination and to support the locals. It is meant to support local businesses so that they get benefits from tourism, helping them maintain their economy. Moreover, eco-tourism claims to be more sustainable since its focus is to teach tourists about the culture and nature of the destination without disrupting them.

In my opinion, even though eco-tourism sounds ideal, it is very difficult to achieve what it aims for. We, as human beings, will always have an impact on our environment whether we like it or not. However, it is up to us to decide how big that impact is. When given the opportunity to choose between buying from multi-national or local businesses, choose local. If you want to visit a natural reservoir, try to make yourself untraceable as much as possible.

In conclusion, we will keep traveling and it is going to affect the places we visit. We should consider our options when doing so and choose mindfully whenever we can.
