The International Labor Organization and The UN found many contributing factors causing illnesses and in extreme cases death. Office workers are stressed and work long hours, and factory workers also working long hours in a toxic and dangerous work environment.

The study has also found that most deaths are from the Southern Asian zone, primarily males older than 54.

As per the UN's report, 1.9 million people died in 2016, mainly from excessive work hours and toxic work environments.

The World Health Organisation also reported long working hours, stress and unsafe work practices caused 745,000 people to develop health issues such as heart disease and stroke.
