Everyone might think that working on tv, all your dreams have come true, but in fact it's more tedious than you think. I have to travel an hour and a half from my house to the studio to begin with, so I spend 3 hours on the road commuting from my job. And despite having to do it only twice a week, I'm worn out almost all the time. Every day, I check the script for the upcoming week and seek out all the content that I need in order to have a better understanding of the topic at hand, such as specialized words or terms, some historical facts, specific dates, and so on.
Don't get me wrong, I love my job, it's just that before I started working on it, I thought it'd be more fun. What's more, If you'd asked me then what it's like working on tv, before I started working on it, I would have told you something like, "OUTSTANDING", but now that I'm in, I'd probably say, "Meh.....It's nice..".
Of course, it isn't all that bleak. I've met a lot of new people who are pretty awesome, and I've made a couple of new friends and contacts. Also the experience of being a TV host has been great. Now I have a lot of confidence in front the camera, and that's awesome because I'm a theatre actor, and theater actors don't like the camera, for the most part, and it's a little bit difficult to get used to it.
I don't want to come off like I'm complaining about my job, because I really love it, but it's not what I thought it was going to be, as simple as that.
