Mortality is part of being human. These two texts are the two poles of that spectrum: while some people are completely on board with living longer, others consider that completely unnatural. In this essay I will discuss these two ideas and give my opinion in the matter.

The first text suggests that living forever may not be part of the imaginary anymore. Due to the advances in modern science and medicine, the life span of human beings has increased significantly throughout the years. Some people believe that, in a not so far away future, this science could make immortality possible.

However, as the second text claims, not everybody would be happy with living forever. There is a group of people who consider this completely unnecessary, even more if we consider the limited resources of our planet. Additionally, it is argued that mortality should not be seen as a problem to be solved, but rather we should accept it as it is.

I personally agree with the second approach. Humans can already live up to 100 years old, even more, which seems long enough for a lifetime. I personally do not wish to live longer than that, since that seems dull and repetitive. There is also the issue that arises with having 8 billion people living longer. The planet would not be able to provide for all of us if we keep on growing, especially if humans do not die anymore.

In conclusion, even though some people claim that they want to live longer I do not consider this necessary even more if we want to have a livable planet. Living longer would only create even bigger problems.
