A few days ago I finished reading the autobiography of Ronnie James Dio, one of the greatest names of Heavy Metal. The publication of this book last July was a big surprise for me, considering that Dio died in 2010.
The book was put together by his wife Wendy and the prolific music biographer Mick Wall, compiling the texts that Dio had written during his life.
It was weird yet amazing being able to read an autobiography published more than a decade after the death of the autor.
In 2010, in my first semester in the university, I was still giving my firsts steps to became the metalhead that I am today, and I wans't familiar with Ronnie james Dio's carrer. When Dio died, one friend of mine mentioned his death in a linear algebra class (I find strange to remeber this details) and I said that I didn't knew his music, so he sent me a couple of Dio's songs and I never stop listening since then.
I really hope that a second book will be published in the next few years, covering the last 25 years of his life, wich was not covered in this first book. His wife said that there is enough material to do so.
I'll finish with a quote from the lyrics of the "Sacret Heart", title song from Dio's band third album.
Whenever you dream
You're holding the key
It opens the door
To let you be free, yeah
And find the sacred heart
Somewhere bleeding in the night, yeah
Run for the light
And you'll find the sacred heart
Enjoy it!
Excellent writing! Parabéns!
Thanks a lot Graham!
