I read ‘Logan’s Choice by Richard MacAndrew today from Cambridge English Readers Level 2. I didn’t have much time so I’ve read only four chapters. It’s a rather fascinating detective story and I’m going to finish it. But I have a strange feeling. I read the book where I know all the words and only pay attention to some phrases. On the one hand, it’s easy and I can read more focus more on the plot of the story and repeat phrases. On the other hand, an easy book doesn’t develop language skills. I wonder if it is worse reading books at an easy level or it’s waste of time.

Hi Iren, great question! For me, I think it is worth reading as much as possible (extensive rather than intensive) as the volume will help embed the language - so it is better to read at a slightly easier level if it means that you keep reading. Good luck!
An easy book does develop language skills!
An easy book may not help as much with vocabulary building, but it is a great tool to help you become familiarized with grammatical patterns and usage. Don't underestimate the benefits of reading easier books.
