Determination of subjects which are taught in schools is an essential topic in the modern world. History has been one of the most permanent and classical subjects over many years. However, some people claim that science and technology subjects should be prioritized over history because of their importance. In this essay, ı will explain why I agree with those who think that science and technology subject more significant compared to history.
There is no doubt that history is usually thought important topics for schools, providing people to connect with their past generation, tradition and gain new perspectives but practically it can not leads people to find a job or discover an innovation which can make a beneficial contribution to people’s life directly. It is obvious that in the 21. Century people need something that can make their lives easier and more comfortable because of busy and unhealthy lifestyles. It does not mean that History is not necessary and important. However, looking from this point of view science and technology seem to more significant than history.
On the other hand, science and technology subjects have more potential to ımprove student's intelligence compared to history. Especially, science-related subjects encourage students to having numerical talent which is very valuable not only on a daily basis but also in business life. For example, people who have developed skills in technology and science topics are more likely to find prestigious jobs such as be engineers or medical doctors. As a result of that people can create a high-level standard of life.
Finally, it is apparent that in many aspects, technology and science subjects are more significant than history. History continues to play an important role in school subjects, but science-related subjects appear to overwhelm history.
Is this a serious text? I couldn't disagree more, and I'm a scientist.
From your text I assume that you don't really have a grasp of what history is all about. It's not just dates and events from the past, but teaching that your outlook on history and thus also on the world in general is influenced by your education, social background, etc. Furthermore, the subject is supposed to teach critical thinking, a skill that in a world of social media and "fake news" seems more important than ever before. Not to mention a whole number of current conflicts and societal issues that are deeply rooted in historical events, just as the Arab-Israeli conflict, racism in general or the role a number of institutions still play in our everyday life. It might be true that historical knowledge won't make you rich, but it's nevertheless important for society as a whole. Money isn't everything (capitalism, by the way, is one of the things that accompanies us for over a century now and your arguments show that it's still up to date).
