I remember well what one of my teachers from middle school said one time:

If we were all the same, life would be boring.

Back then, I happily agreed with her and even though I still agree, I didn't understand her words in the way I do now. It happens that sometimes I compare the successes of others with my own. And sometimes I feel some successes are bigger than others, for example, buying a house at 20 years old than at 35 years old, or participating in the Olympics vs. winning the Olympics. But you know what? I don't truly believe it, I think it just feels like that when I feel down, cause when I'm thriving I feel amazed by the "ordinary" activities that are also successes: finishing a book, doing a super sweaty workout, preparing a delicious recipe, enjoying rest without feeling you could be doing more, speaking another language with all and the fear of making mistakes, saying you will do something and actually doing it, ETCETERA.

I also remember my classmates from high school saying:

there is always someone who is / does it better.

And I remember not liking that idea at all! Why? Because I believed it in a way that made me devalue whatever I did and I recently realized I didn't celebrate all my processes and achievements because, first of all, I didn't consider they were a big deal. And again, I don't truly believe it, it's just easy to feel that "we would, we could, we should blah blah blah". But our lifetime is UNIQUE, therefore our achievements too. I think that's amazing! Uniqueness has value. So, it doesn't matter if some successes feel or are bigger than others or if someone is better or not at doing something (we don't have to agree), I just love the fact that we are all unrepeatable and if our stories are unrepeatable, comparison doesn't really make sense. What makes sense to me is getting knowledge, motivation and inspiration from others and of course, from ourselves.
